We present VAH, a (3+1)-dimensional simulation that evolves the far-from-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions with anisotropic fluid dynamics. solve hydrodynamic equations on an Eulerian grid using Kurganov-Tadmor algorithm combination new adaptive Runge-Kutta method. Our numerical scheme allows us to start soon after nuclear collision, largely avoiding need integrate it separate pre-equilibrium dynamics module. test code's performance by simulating conformal and non-conformal Bjorken flow as well Gubser flow, whose (0+1)-dimensional solutions are precisely known. Finally, we compare hydrodynamics second-order viscous central Pb+Pb find former's longitudinal profile responds more consistently fluid's gradients along spacetime rapidity direction.

Three-Fluid Simulations of Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

Probing Equation of State (EoS) of QCD matter in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is still a fascinating problem inspiring new experimental projects [1]. Hydrodynamic models have an advantage that they directly address EoS of hot and dense nuclear matter, which is of prime interest for this domain of physics. We have developed 3D 3fluid relativistic hydrodynamic model [2, 3] for simulating hea...

Anisotropic fluid dynamics in the early stage of relativistic heavy - ion collisions ⋆

A formalism for anisotropic fluid dynamics is proposed. It is designed to describe boost-invariant systems with anisotropic pressure. Such systems are expected to be produced at the early stages of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, when the timescales are too short to achieve equal thermalization of transverse and longitudinal degrees of freedom. The approach is based on the energy-momentum an...

Microscopic description of anisotropic flow in relativistic heavy ion collisions

Abstract. Anisotropic flow of hadrons is studied in heavy ion collisions at SPS and RHIC energies within the microscopic quark-gluon string model. The model was found to reproduce correctly many of the flow features, e.g., the wiggle structure of direct flow of nucleons at midrapidity, or centrality, rapidity, and transverse momentum dependences of elliptic flow. Further predictions are made. T...

Anisotropic flow in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions

A sign reversal of the directed flow parameter v1 in the central rapidity region in Au+Au collisions at √ s = 200 AGeV is predicted. This anti-flow is shown to be linked to the expansion of the hot matter created. In line with this observation the predicted elliptic flow parameter v2 of various particle species is linked to the mean free path of these particles. LBNL-preprint: LBNL-46096 Typese...

Dynamical Evolution of the Scalar Condensate in Heavy Ion Collisions

We derive the effective coarse-grained field equation for the scalar condensate of the linear sigma model in a simple and straightforward manner using linear response theory. The dissipative coefficient is calculated at tree level on the basis of the physical processes of sigma-meson decay and of thermal sigma-mesons and pions knocking sigma-mesons out of the condensate. The field equation is s...
